The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning against driving ATVs on public roadways over the weekend.
Police took to social media Sunday saying ATV owners who allow their vehicles to be driven on the street could be held criminally and civilly liable in the event of a crash.
“That means if your kid is out enjoying the weather today on your ATV and is driving it on a public roadway it could cost you A LOT,” the post said. “Help Stop The Problem. Use ATV's and Dirt Bikes where they belong."

Since 2017, one death and a total of seven injuries involving ATVs have been reported in Cecil County.
Just this weekend, a 51-year-old man was transported to Shock Trauma with severe injuries after an ATV crash.
51-year-old Lloyd Burton Wolfe hit an embankment on Bailiff Road on his ATV and he flew off. He was listed in critical, but stable condition.
Lt. Holmes says people riding on ATVs on public roadways could face upwards of a $1000 fine.
