Woman assaulted walking near college

WESTMINSTER, Md. (WMAR) - Westminster Police are asking for your help in finding the man responsible for assaulting a woman near McDaniel College Friday.

At about 2:30 p.m. police were called to a residence on Windsor Drive regarding an assault that happened earlier on West Main Street near the college.

According to the victim, she was walking west on Main Street when she was approached by a man walking in the opposite direction.

As the subject approached, he asked her for a cigarette. She declined and he grabbed her and pushed her into a nearby stone column. The victim fought with the man for a brief time before she was able to run away toward her home.

The man did not follow her and was last seen on West Main Street in the area of the entrance to Bair stadium.

The woman sustained minor injuries in the assault.

The suspect was described as a white male, in his late 20's to early 30's with a thin to medium build, very closely cropped dark hair, clean shaven and wearing red shorts and a white shirt.

A $500 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
