Victims identified in Port Deposit shooting

Investigators with the Maryland State Police Department have identified the victims in a shooting that took place on Craigstown Road in Port Deposit Monday night.

The deceased is identified as 48-year-old Timothy S. Hammons. Maryland State Police say the shooter approached Hammons and two others and shot them both. They say the shooter then left the area and shot himself.

The second victim has been identified as Eileen L. Roland, 56, of the 2400 block of Philadelphia Road in Edgewood, Md. She was flown to University of Maryland, Shock Trauma Center by Maryland State Police with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect remains unidentified at this time due to the ongoing investigation. The suspect was located a short distance from the scene with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Cecil County emergency medical personnel transported the suspect to Christana Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Troopers say once they arrived on the scene Friday, they found Roland on the front porch with a gunshot wound to her upper torso. Inside the home, they located Hammons on the floor. He had a gunshot wound to his upper torso and was unresponsive.

Investigators believe the incident spawned from a heated argument, but in a press release issued Tuesday said they are still looking for motives.
