Stranger approaches boy at Westminster bus stop

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Deputies are warning the public about a potential stranger danger situation at a bus stop on Tuesday.

According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department, early that morning they were called to the 1300 block of Wyndale Road in Westminster for a report of a suspicious person.  They say the report said a man in an "older style construction type work van" pulled up near a bus stop and asked a boy if he wanted a ride the school.

The boy refused the offer and ran towards home.  Deputies also say it was reported to them that the man initially got out of the car and started to follow the boy before getting back into his car and driving away.

The sheriff's office has increased patrols and checks on bus stops in the area, but so far they have not gotten any more similar reports.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 410-386-2900.
