Shots fired at McDaniel College

Lockdown lifted before dawn

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel College was on lockdown early Sunday morning after several shots were fired near a dormitory.

No one was injured, but lobby windows of Whiteford Hall were shattered.

Witnesses said two males, one who may be the suspected gunman, fled on foot.

The school immediately sent out a campus alert advising students to shelter in place. The lockdown was lifted before dawn.

"The safety and security of our students is always paramount," said McDaniel Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students."

Westminster City Police, Carroll County Sherriff’s Office and campus police are investigating.
