The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to secure their sheds and unattached garages after a rash of dirt bike and ATV thefts.

The office said 25 dirt bikes or ATVs have been stolen this year. Thirteen of the thefts happened over the last six weeks.

There have been more thefts in the northern part of the county north of Route 140.

Officials recommended residents should store their dirt bikes and ATVs in well-lit areas attached to their houses, or add floodlights to the areas where the vehicles are stored.

The Sheriff's Office suggested having recent pictures of the vehicle or any identification numbers, in case it is stolen.
