A Carroll County middle school teacher was arrested Wednesday for child sex charges.

Kenneth Brian Fischer, 39, facies for four counts of solicitation of a minor, connecting to an online chat investigation that started Aug. 31 in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Fischer is a teacher at West Middle School in Westminster and previously taught at other Carroll County schools since 2000 including, North Carroll High School, Carroll High School, Winters Mill High School, Francis Scott Key High School, Manchester Valley High School, Sykesville Middle School and Mt. Airy Middle School.

Around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Section, with the assistance of agents from Homeland Security and Investigation (HSI), FBI Baltimore Field Office, and others, went to his home with a search warrant.

The agencies found various electronic and digital data storage that was turned over to investigators in Virginia. Fischer was arrested while the warrant was being served.

Fischer is at the Carroll County Detention Center awaiting extradition to Virginia, pending a hearing. The search warrant was only from Virginia, he has not been charged in Maryland at this time.

Charges in Maryland depend the Virginia investigation, police said.
