Wednesday afternoon Baltimore County Police obtained an arrest warrant for 29-year-old Erwin Acree for attempted first-degree murder of his ex-girlfriend.

Acree is accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend Tuesday night in the 9000 block of Franklin Square Drive outside of Franklin Square Hospital.

The woman was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The woman was then transferred to Shock Trauma for further treatment. Her current condition is unknown at this time.

When police offices went to a location in the unit block of North Woodington in Baltimore City, Acree refused to come out, resulting in a barricade situation. Acree later shot himself and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Hospital officials told ABC2 News that staff members got word of the shooting on police radio and went out to find the injured woman. They then took the woman inside to the ER where she was stabilized. The woman is employed at the hospital and was waiting at the bus stop at the time of the shooting.

Police said Franklin Square Hospital was placed on a "lock-down" for about an hour for precautionary measures. Investigators believe the victim was targeted.

There's no threat to the safety of the hospital or the community at this time, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Violent Crimes Unit.
