A little before 1 p.m. , Baltimore County police responded to the 4000 block of St. Monica Drive for reports of a shooting.

"It is scary and hopefully it don't happen again,"  Melissa Weese, told ABC2.

She says the Dundalk neighborhood she calls home is uneasy after news of the shooting.

"I tend to get a little fearful because i have three children and there's a school right here close by," said Weese.

Police  collected evidence for hours at a home along St. Monica Drive.

"It's normally quiet around here but I'd say lately in the past year, it's been getting a little wild around here but for the most part it's pretty calm," Weese said.

Investigators say the woman was shot several times in the upper body and taken to the hospital. Neighbors are worried.

"I just don't like the fact that it seems like every time you turn around in this neighborhood something more is happening."

A suspect is in custody but those who live nearby are being proactive about their safety.

"I try to be cautious any way on a daily =basis that's all you can be is just try to be cautious," said Weese.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, her condition is unknown.
