Police responding to a call for a cardiac arrest at the Super 8 Motel on Stemmers Run Road in Essex last week soon discovered this was no medical emergency.

It was murder.

"When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 45-year old woman in a bath tub suffering from multiple injuries.  She was declared deceased at the scene," said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police Department.

The victim has been identified as Rhonda Lynn Garrison.

Motel management says Garrison and an unidentified male had checked into the motel for a week.

A cleaning lady discovered her body wrapped in a bed cover inside the bathtub with the shower curtain pulled closed to conceal it from view on Thursday.

As for her companion, he was nowhere in sight.

"There was a man who was staying there in his forties.  He committed suicide the next day," Wachter said.

It appears 49-year old John Anthony Tutchton jumped to his death from an overpass at I-95 and Route 43, but at this point, investigators can't assume he murdered Garrison and then took his own life.

"They were boyfriend/girlfriend.  We do know that,” said Wachter, “We don't know what was going on in the time surrounding her murder, and like I said, we have not positively identified any suspects.  We're looking into all possibilities though."

If you have any information, which could help police with this case, you’re asked to call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
