Woman charged for setting fire to home, assaulting officer

Police say Davis kicked window out of police car

WOODLAWN, Md. (WMAR) - A 25-year-old woman is behind bars after setting fire to a Woodlawn home, police say.

Baltimore County Police say they were called to a home in the 1600 Block of Langford Rd in Woodlawn for a person who appeared to be suicidal.

When officers arrived, they determined it to be a simple assault and left the scene.  Police were called back to the home moments later where they found a fire in a second floor room.

Baltimore County Fire crews extinguished the fire, and Fire Investigation Detectives responded to conduct a routine investigation.

Police say they put 25-year-old Ashley Joy Davis in one of their vehicles for protection against the fire.  That's when police say Davis kicked out one of the car's windows and assaulted one of their officers.

Davis was arrested.  Police say it was during an interview with Davis when she revealed that she set the fire because of an ongoing dispute.

Police have charged the 25-year-old with 1st Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Assault, and related charges.

Davis is currently being held at Baltimore County Detention Center on $250,000 bail.
