Police have identified the an elderly couple found murdered inside their Pikesville home Monday, as well as a person of interest in the case.
Investigators say the two found inside the home on the 800 block of Olmstead Road are Vaughn George Pepper, 87 Marjorie Marie Pepper, 85. They say both lived at the address.
Their bodies were found after a neighbor called police in response to getting a call from an out-of-state relative of the couple. The caller told the neighbor the couple hadn't been heard from for an extended period of time.
Officers say when they arrived at the scene and looked through the window, they could see the body of an adult male on the floor of the first level of the home. Officers entered the home and discovered the body of an adult female in the basement.
Both suffered traumatic injuries. The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. Police recovered a weapon at the scene but are not identifying it at this time. They have ruled out that the deaths were a result of a shooting.
Police do not believe at this time that this is a random crime, but caution that the investigation still is extremely active and ongoing.
The Peppers grandson, Matthew Long, 31, lived with the Peppers. He is now described as a person of interest in the case, but police say he is missing, and they are trying to locate him.
