Baltimore County Police say the reported Towson Town Center carjacking that happened Tuesday evening was a false report.

Officials say police arrived at the scene of a parking lot located across from the mall on Tuesday around 5:40 pm. They say it was reported that a 46-year-old Parkville woman was a victim of an armed robbery and attempted carjacking.

The woman originally told police that she left the mall and saw two people 'lurking' among parked cars. She described them as two black men wearing black hooded sweatshirts with jeans and ski masks.

She told police that the two men wanted her car and believed that they had a handgun, she specified that she refused to give them her keys but gave her purse instead and they fled with it.

After further investigation on the incident, detectives were able to identify that the woman's recollection of the incident started to change.

Investigators then obtained the surveillance footage which showed that the woman drove in the lot and parked her car. They say she never left her vehicle before leaving the parking lot and calling the police.

Baltimore County Police are seeking charges against the woman for falsely reporting a crime.
