BALTIMORE (WMAR) -- A Baltimore caregiver has been charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult after assault allegations occurred in a Timonium group home.
Attorney General Douglas Gansler announced today that Nnamdi Adiegwu, 37, has been charged by way of a criminal information in Baltimore County with one count each of abuse of a vulnerable adult in the second degree and assault in the second degree.
It is alleged that on the evening of September 28, 2012, Adiegwu physically assaulted a 52-year-old disabled man who was in his care at a group home in the 200 block of Purlington Road in Timonium.
A co-worker reported that he witnessed Adiegwu pushing the victim and later smacking him with a kitchen spatula. The case is scheduled for trial on July 17.
Abuse of a vulnerable adult in the second degree is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
