OWINGS MILLS, Md. - A student is in custody after bringing a BB gun to the Owings Mills High School according to Baltimore County Police spokesperson, Elisa Armacost.
Police say the student brought the gun to school this morning and he made no threats, also, no one was hurt.
Police responded to the school shortly after 10:00 a.m. for a call of a person with a weapon. Several students had reported seeing a person with a weapon on or near school grounds.
School administrators immediately placed the school on lockdown, because the suspects initial whereabouts was not known.
Officers searched the school grounds and the nearby area. After viewing the school surveillance video, police found the 17-year-old student in the school's main office for an unrelated issue. Officers searched the student and recovered the BB gun.
The boy was placed under arrest and will be charged as a juvenile with possession of a dangerous weapon and disruption of school activities.
Police say 22 minutes elapsed from the time they were dispatched to the time the student was taken into custody.
