Police shoot man after wife calls for help

PARKVILLE, Md. - Police shot a man Saturday night after his wife called 911 for help.

Authorities say the woman called 911 around 10:45 p.m. Saturday and told dispatchers her husband was suicidal and had a gun.

When officers arrived at the home in the 2900 block of Manns Avenue, the man identified as Michael Tindall Jr., 39,  came outside with a gun and ignored orders to put it down.

Both Tindall and the officer fired, and Tindall was struck. He was taken to an area hospital where he’s in critical condition.

The officer was not hurt.

The 18-year-veteran police officer was placed on administrative leave in accordance with policy on police-involved shootings.
