MILFORD MILL, Md. - A woman's screams early Sunday led to a police involved shooting in Baltimore County.
Police said officers were called to the 3700 block of Old Milford Mill Road just after 6 a.m. to check on a report of a woman screaming. When officers arrived, they found a man armed with a knife who was combative with police.
A preliminary investigation found that the man tried to attack a woman who was walking in the area.
In a release issued Saturday morning, Baltimore County Police said officers used tasers, pepper spray and batons in an attempt to arrest the man who then jumped into a car and tried to hit the arresting officers. Two of the officers fired at the man, hitting him at least once. After a brief pursuit, the man, who is not being identified, was taken into custody.
After being shot the man allegedly continued to resist arrest and required three police officers to escort him to the hospital with the ambulance, police said. Several officers received minor injuries that did not require treatment. The female victim was not hurt.
Baltimore County police are investigating. The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation.
