Police probing Pikesville double homicide

PIKESVILLE, Md. - An elderly couple has been found murdered inside of their home in Baltimore County.

It happened in the historic "Sudbrook Park" section of the County, near Pikesville.

The investigation lasted late into the evening -- with photographs being taken inside the well-kept home on Olmsted Road.

Neighbors say both victims were in their 80s.

"Everybody's grandfather. Everybody's grandma," said Wes Bickham, who lives across the street.

A neighbor had called police after getting a call from an out-of-state relative of the couple, who hadn't heard from them.

"When we got to the house we looked around, we looked in a window, we saw an adult male lying on the floor.  At this point officers made forced entry in the home to check it out, found an adult female in the basement," said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police Department.

Neighbors had worried that someone might have come into the neighborhood and targeted the couple.

So far police have not commented on another man who neighbors say had been living in the home.

They did say there's no evidence of a break-in.

Wes Bickham says everyone in the neighborhood knew and respected the victims.  When many of them got home from work Monday they saw their street blocked off.

Now, they know more about what happened -- they still want to know why.  "They were part of what made this neighborhood great. It's sad that things have ended like this," Bickham said.

Police have not released the names of the two victims.

Their bodies have been taken to the Office of the State Medical Examiner for autopsies.

If you have any information about what might have happened you are asked to call Baltimore County Police at (410) 307-2020.
