Police investigating death of elderly man found in his Halethorpe home

Police said he had traumatic injuries

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of 3rd Avenue to check on the man, following a call from a pastor who neighbors said would check in on him from time to time.

The pastor told police that he hadn’t had contact with the man since last week.

Responding officers found the elderly man suffering from traumatic injuries. He was declared dead at the scene.

“It’s very frightening that now it’s turned into something it wasn’t when I was a child. And I’m getting older,” Rita Elkins said of the neighborhood.

Barbara Mazzatenta, another said, said “I do notice some blinds disorganized a little bit and he was always meticulous.”

Neighbors described the man as churgh-going and hardworking. Police did not release the identity of the man as of Tuesday night.
