Police identify 4 officers involved in Dundalk shootout

Baltimore County Police have identified the four officers involved in a deadly shootout in Dundalk Wednesday.

The officers were:

  • Police Officer First Class Carver of Precinct 12, 5.5 year veteran
  • Police Officer First Class Leary of Precinct 12, 3.5 year veteran
  • Police Officer First Class Minton of Precinct 12, a 14.5 year veteran
  • A 17-year veteran whose name is being withheld because of the officer's duty assignment

Wednesday's shooting stemmed from an armed robbery. The suspect, 35-year-old Blaine Erb, robbed two people and then boarded an MTA bus. When police initiated a traffic stop on the bus, the suspect began firing at the officers. The suspect was armed with two handguns and several rounds of ammunition.

Police returned fire, ultimately fatally injuring the suspect. 

A Baltimore County Police officer was injured seriously and transported to Shock Trauma in serious condition. Another woman was also injured, she was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
