Police charge two men in Edgemere machete attack

EDGEMERE, Md. - Baltimore County police have charged two men in connection with an Aug. 22 machete assault in Edgemere.

Kevin Allen Himes Jr., 22, of the 2500 block of Wagner Ave., is charged with first-degree assault and related charges. He has been released on $150,000 bail. Ryan Michael Freund, 21, of the 2500 block of Lakeview Ave., is charged with attempted first-degree murder and related charges. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police said at officers responded at 6:44 p.m. to the parking lot of the Food Lion located in the 7500 block of North Point Road for an assault call. The police investigation revealed that a male victim had been attacked by two adult males who were in the possession of a machete. The victim, who was suffering from a severe injury to the arm, was transported immediately to an area hospital by Baltimore County EMS personnel for treatment.

The victim underwent surgery and is expected to survive his injuries, although his current condition is unknown, police said.
