Keith Tawney was a two-time cancer survivor with a bright future until his was killed by a hit-and-run driver in August.

The 23-year-old was walking on North Point Blvd. when he was hit. Police have not made any arrests, but his mother is still hoping that someone saw something.

"It's horrible everyday. It's a nightmare. I cry everyday," Denise Cohill said.

It happened nearly four weeks ago, but for Cohill, it may have been yesterday.

"There's nothing that will ever make it right or make the pain go away," she said.

"My son laid on the side of the side of the road and died by himself. Keith was still in his work boots, and his brown, Dickie work pants, and his florescent orange t-shirt, and it knocked him, clean, out of both boots," she said.

Police have investigated. They've spoken with Cohill, but no arrests have been made, and now, she said, they have no leads.

"Keith was a cancer survivor," said Cohill. "The kid went through hell before his 21st birthday, and then to get run over and left on the side of the road to die alone, it's hard to swallow."

Wednesday evening, another grieving family was near the same intersection, North Point Blvd. and Cove Rd. It was supposed to be Atriece Hall's 35th birthday. Instead, they spent time at the spot where she died in Jan. when the same thing happened to her.

"It's so sad that two young lives have to be taken, and then for no one to even stop," Cohill said, letting her voice trail off.

Tawney's family is hoping to be able to offer a reward of up to $7,000 for information leading to the capture of the person that police believe is responsible.
