A 33-year-old Pikesville man who killed his grandparents back in 2012 was sentenced to life in prison Thursday, according to a release from the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore County.
Matthew Long, 33, pled guilty Thursday in Baltimore County Circuit Court to killing his grandparents Vaughn and Marjorie Pepper on Sept. 10, 2012 in their Pikesville home.
“Both had been severely beaten and cut on their head, neck and chest,” the release states. “They had apparently been dead for several days when discovered. The initial investigation disclosed that Matthew Long, who lived with his grandparents, was missing.”
Long was found in a motel room in Weatherford, Okla. on Sept. 11, 2012 after a failed suicide attempt. Investigators said he confessed to killed his grandparents.
The honorable Judge H. Patrick Stringer recommended Long be committed to the Patuxent Institution within the Division of Corrections, the release states.
