UPDATE: Video released by the Baltimore County Police Department shows the suspect reaching for his waist and approaching the officer before being shot.

Baltimore County Police have released the name of the officer involved in a deadly shooting in Reisterstown on Wednesday.

They say Officer Earomirski was the one who responded to the scene and shot Keith Harrison McLeod, 19 of Faraday Place NE, Washington, D.C.

A pharmacist working at Nature Care on Main Street phoned police at about 5 p.m. Wednesday and said a man tried to pass off a forged prescription.

A police officer chased the man, now identified as McLeod, on foot away from the pharmacy.

The following statement was released by the Baltimore County Police Department:

"Detectives obtained video evidence  from nearby businesses that captures the confrontation," police noted in a release. "The footage shows the suspect aggressively advancing on a single officer, who retreats with his gun drawn.  The footage shows the suspect reaching around to the small of his back and abruptly whipping his hand around and pointing it toward the officer, as if with a weapon. The officer fires his weapon as the suspect swiftly brings his hand forward from his waistband. On the ground, the suspect refuses to comply and keeps reaching into his waistband, as if for a weapon.

"Witnesses told detectives that they heard the officer repeatedly giving the suspect commands to 'stop,' and that they heard the suspect shouting profanities at the officer."

Detectives have yet to recover a weapon, although the investigation is ongoing.

An autopsy confirmed that the suspect was shot three times by the officer.

The officer has been placed on administrative leave.
