A suspect was taken to the hospital after he was shot by a Parkville resident, according to Baltimore County police.

Investigators said it was around 2:30 a.m. Friday that they responded to the 2300 block of Harford Hills Road.
They said the suspect kicked in the front door while a man was inside.

"He heard the suspect say 'I'm in your house, I'm coming to get you.' The man then armed himself with a gun and closed the door to the room he was in," Corporal John Wachter told ABC2.

Corporal Wachter said the suspect then kicked in that door. That's when the man fired his gun and ran to a
neighbors to call 911.

Joe Schmidt, the man's next door neighbor, heard the shots from his bedroom.

"When I heard the shots, I wasn't going to go outside then because he might have been out there shooting again so I didn't want to play with that," he said.

"We were able to locate the suspect inside the home and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment. When he gets out of the hospital, he's facing charges in connection with this incident," Wachter said.

Wachter said the victim's actions will also reviewed by the county state's attorney's office once the police investigation is complete.

"I'll tell you, if more people were like that, this country would be better off, because if somebody breaks in, you don't have much time. ... Today we got to start speaking up a little bit. It's too much killing going on and too many innocent people getting shot everywhere so I think it's about time for something like that to show people it's enough," Schmidt said.
