A Monkton man has been charged with first-degree assault in connection with a domestic incident Wednesday afternoon that shut down part of York Road.
Jacob Ryan Beckett, 34, also faces two counts of second-degree burglary, and related charges, and is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Just after 5 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 16900 block of York Road following reports that a man had shot at his girlfriend. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 38-year-old woman who was suffering from minor injuries, but she had not been shot.

Police said Beckett began discharging a handgun inside the apartment and threatened the woman. She was able to get the gun away from Beckett, and he ran off.
After leaving the apartment, Beckett broke into Mount Carmel Animal Hospital and stayed there for about three minutes. While police were responding to the shots fired call, a 911 call was received from inside the business. Beckett then broke into a Nationwide Insurance office nearby.
At about 5:16 a.m., a call was received from the business from a man who identified himself as Mike.
Beckett was later taken into custody behind Meadowcroft Towing.
This incident remains under investigation.
