Man convicted in hatchet murder

TOWSON, Md. (WMAR) -

A Halethorpe man was convicted yesterday of the murder of Ryan Wesley Jackson, who was killed with a hatchet.

The guilty verdict was reached by a jury after a four day trial.

The 38-year-old Larry Eugene Horton was convicted of killing Jackson, 18, by hitting him 24 separate times in the head with a hatchet.

Jackson's body was found in the Brooklyn area on October 15, 2011. The investigation revealed that Jackson was killed by Horton inside of a residence on Rambo Court in Lansdowne and then transported the body to Baltimore City.

After the murder, Horton fled the state and used an alias, but was eventually located and arrested in Bayou La Batre, Alabama on October 19, 2011.

Horton faces a maximum penalty of life without the possibility of parole.
