Man charged after Middle River standoff

MIDDLE RIVER, Md. - Police have charged a man behind a six hour barricade situation in Middle River Saturday.

Dennis Taylor Jr., 30 is being held on $350,000 after he engaged police negotiators in a standoff following two robberies Saturday morning. He’s facing robbery, assault, theft and gun charges.

According to officials, Taylor stole a man’s wallet from a home on Kingston Park Lane around 7:30 a.m. and fled. Officials say he then tried to take a woman’s purse at gunpoint in the 2200 block of Southhorn Road.

He ran when neighbors heard the victim yelling. Police caught up with him at his home in the 2100 block of Sunnythorn Road a short time later.

Everyone in the house was able to safely leave the residence around 11:30 a.m., police said.

Eventually Taylor gave up and was taken into custody without incident around 1:30 p.m.
