A former Baltimore County police officer has been charged with sexually abusing his teenage son.

Police said on July 14, the now 28-year-old man told police he had been sexually assaulted by his stepfather from the age of 13 to 18.  The abuse occurred at his home in Freeland, Maryland and involved the suspect touching his genitals while he slept. The victim told police on one occasion he woke up to find the suspect, identified as 53-year-old David Roesler, touching his genital area over his clothes. He told police he suspected he was being watched in the shower and while alone in his room.

Roesler, of Felton, Pennsylvania turned himself in at the Towson precinct Tuesday morning. He was charged with child abuse and fourth-degree sex offense and released on $50,000 bail.

Roesler is a 30-year veteran of the Baltimore County police department. He last served in the K-9 unit, but is no longer with the department, police said.

Investigators believe that there are no other victims.
