Essex man charged with possession, distribution of child porn

We're told people settle down in Rockaway Beach to be near the water, but they won't settle for child pornographers living in their midst.

"We don't want this in our community at all,” said Jody Lamp, “He needs to be staying in prison or whatever where he's at."

Lamp is referring to one of her neighbors, 46-year old James Patrick Tinker II, who now faces a series of charges after police say they discovered him sharing kiddie porn on the Internet.

They searched his home here on Turkey Point Road in Thursday.

"They recovered two computer devices that contained pornographic images of children,” said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police Department, “The suspect was found to be responsible for the images on those devices."

Images of young girls, and police say Tinker is a social worker who counsels teens at clinics in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel County.

While there's no evidence that Tinker physically abused anyone, they say crimes like these perpetuate the sexual exploitation of children.

"Somewhere there's a child that a crime has been committed against,” said Wachter, “I mean these are real people that are in these images.  Someone who shares child pornography might not be the person taking the pictures or taking the video, and in this case there's no indication that this individual was involved in taking the pictures or taking video, but somewhere there's somebody abusing those children getting those pictures and getting those videos."

We have also learned Tinker is married with a young daughter in the home, but it appears neither of them had any idea of his alleged perversions.

"That's horrifying that you wouldn't know that your husband was doing something like that.  I can't imagine," said Lamp.

Tinker faces charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.

He's being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center with bail set at $200,000.
