Brandon Ward had just gotten off work at Applebee's and driven across  Baltimore National Pike to a shopping center parking lot, the first in a series of events that would end with the 20-year-old's death.

Police said Ward had been targeted, and they've now arrested 21-year old Tatiana Bowie in connection with the shooting that claimed Ward's life.

"They were involved in an argument. This is not somebody who just randomly came up to somebody else and just shot them,” said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police Department, “There was something going on there between the two people."

It now appears Ward may have simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Charging documents, obtained by ABC2 News, suggest Bowie had gone to the Applebee's restaurant earlier that night with someone who worked there and got into an argument with another employee before leaving.

Later, when Ward and some of his co-workers clocked out, they parked across the street behind Loafer's to discuss having drinks when Bowie showed up and confronted the woman she'd had words with earlier, ultimately, holding one of Ward's female co-workers around the neck.

When he and others tried to pull them apart, as many as six gunshots rang out and Bowie was seen holding a revolver in her hand.

"During that argument, the suspect shot the victim at least one time and then fled the scene," Wachter said.

The bullet that hit Ward in the back would prove to be fatal.

Police obtained a warrant for Bowie's arrest the following day, but she remained at large without using her cell phone in an apparent bid to avoid having her location pinpointed. Investigators caught up with her two days later.

The charging documents also suggest that a few of the bullets hit a nearby car where a child was strapped into a safety seat in the back, but fortunately that child was not injured.
