Residents of an apartment complex in Baltimore County have been hit by burglars multiple times in the same week. They reached out to ABC2 when they say the management company refused to address their concerns.
The property in Windsor Mill, according to county police, is the site of five burglaries in just the past week.
When ABC2 went to the management office at the Liberty Place Apartments, an employee behind the door pulled it shut and said we were not welcome inside the building. The property manager was not available, the woman said.
It is something one resident said did not sit well because she is ready for answers.
"We've had no feedback from management. All the follow-ups have been from Baltimore County police," said the woman, who asked identity be kept hidden in fear of retaliation.
She said she found her apartment was burglarized Tuesday after returning from work with her son.
It was ransacked and items of various value taken, she said.
"I took him to a neighbors house and then I called the police, but I've been in fear since that day because there was no forced entry," the woman said. "Something needs to be done. I feel like if this property were in a more affluent area, things would be different."
In the same building on a different floor, another resident told the same story.
"What I'd really like to know is what they plan to do to secure the residents of this property," the second victim said. She also asked her identity to withheld.
She said she came home Tuesday evening with her three young kids in tow to find jewelry missing. What's more, she said, her 3-year-old son was able to push the front door open himself.
She said police told her there were no signs of forced entry.
She described it as an "absolutely a frightening experience, especially when you have your family to protect."
ABC2 reached out to Southern Management, the owners of the apartments, to ask what was being done to address residents' concerns. A call was not returned.
Residents said they want broken cameras fixed and security stepped-up.
While at the apartments Friday evening, an unmanned guard gate and a back fence that was wide open were observed.
