Church youth leader charged with child porn in Baltimore County

PHOENIX, Md. - A 35-year-old youth group leader at a Baltimore County church has been charged with possession and distribution of child pornography.

Baltimore County police said in a release that Robert David Wright, of the 10000 block of Hillgreen Circle, is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $150,000 bail.

"It's terrible, taking advantage of these innocent kids," said neighbor Howard Robinson.

"It's always better to have the heads up," said neighbor Emma Arrington.

A police investigation found thousands of pornographic images of female babies, toddlers and prepubescent girls including images of children being raped on Wright's home computer. Police discovered he also shared the images with other users.

Wright is a youth group leader at Clynmalira United Methodist Church in Phoenix. At this time police do not believe the images on his computer were those of children at the church, or that he sexually abused children himself.

The investigation is ongoing as officers sift through the large amount of child pornography seized at Wright's home.
