Boyfriend charged in mother's death

ESSEX, Md. (WMAR) -

Baltimore County Police have arrested and charged a woman's boyfriend for his role in her murder.

At about 12:30 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 700 block of Myrth Avenue to check on the wellbeing of a woman. Police say that a woman called 911 to have officers check on her mother, who was visiting her boyfriend at that location.

After arriving and speaking with a man there, officers located the body of Janet Palasik, 48, covered with a blanket in the kitchen.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Palasik had gone to the location, which is her boyfriend's home, at about 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Palasik and her boyfriend, John Falkenstein, Jr., had been involved in an argument and he stabbed her several times.

Falkenstein, 56, was charged with first degree murder in her death. He is currently being held without bail.
