A Baltimore man was convicted Thursday of attempting to murder his wife with a shotgun last winter, according to State’s Attorney Gregg Bernstein.
Calvin Lucas, 66, was convicted of attempted first-degree murder and reckless endangerment for discharging a shotgun during a domestic dispute with his wife, a news release said.
In the early morning of Feb. 19, 2013, Lucas returned to his home in the 3900 block of Fairview Avenue intoxicated. He got into an argument with his wife, who was 72 years old at the time.
The release said that Lucas threatened to shoot his wife’s son with the shotgun. When his wife tried to call the police, Lucas pointed the shotgun at her. As she grabbed the gun’s barrel to try to move it away, Lucas pulled the trigger, sending a bullet past her face and into the wall behind her.
The victim was not physically injured during the dispute.
Lucas is scheduled for sentencing on June 2. He faces a maximum of life in prison.
