With the killer still at large, initially police would only say a woman died with trauma to the upper body in her Parkville home on Wednesday, but all of that changed with the arrest of her stepson, Philip Min Hyung Cho, about 12 hours after the murder.

"This woman was having an argument with her 27-year old stepson and during that argument, he stabbed her repeatedly and then fled the house," said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police Department.

Charging documents reveal more about 61-year old Haw Sun Kim's death.

It appears her husband was awakened by that argument at about 1:30 in the morning and as he walked out of his bedroom, he saw his wife, covered in blood, crawling on the floor.

His son was standing nearby with a knife in his hand.

The father took the knife from him, and Cho made comments about killing himself as he quickly left the apartment and drove away.

"When our officers arrived on the scene, they found a 61-year old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds,” said Wachter, “She was declared deceased on the scene."

Ultimately, police discovered the vehicle in a parking lot off Belair Road, and they found Cho walking in a shopping center less than a mile away near Fowler Avenue where they took him into custody.

He now faces a first-degree murder charge and he's being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

At a bail review hearing Thursday, a prosecutor said Cho stabbed his stepmother no less than 15 times, and she suffered what he described as "many gaping stab wounds."

Bail was denied.
