Baltimore County Police have charged a Baltimore City special education teacher in connection with human trafficking.
Michael Brandon Osikomaiya, 23, of the 3600 block of Lyndale Avenue has been charged with human trafficking, prostitution and related charges, according to police.
Baltimore City Schools said Osikomaiya is a special education teacher at NACA Freedom and Democracy II. He is currently being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $200,000 bail.
On the afternoon of May 19, police learned that there was a 16-year-old girl advertising prostitution on the internet. An undercover officer contacted the girl and set up a meeting at the Towson East Motel in Baltimore County. Officers located the girl upon arrival.
Further investigation revealed that Osikomaiya was the girl’s pimp. He was taken into custody as he returned to the motel.
The 16-year-old girl is considered a victim, according to police. Officers said they don’t have any plans to charge her at this time.
Baltimore City Schools released a statement saying Osikomaiya was immediately placed on administrative after receiving notification of the charges. City Schools officials said they will continue to monitor the incident.
"Nothing in our investigation so far has indicated that any of his students were any of his victims," Baltimore County Corporal John Wachter said.
The incident is still under investigation.
