Baltimore police expected to provide update in toddler homicide case

Baltimore City police are expected to provide an update Wednesday into the homicide investigation surrounding the death of a 21-month-old boy who died Monday night .

Shortly before midnight Monday, a woman came out of the Red Carpet Inn at the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Primrose Avenue and flagged down officers in the area. The woman told police her son, Jayden Curtis, wasn't breathing.

A witness told ABC2 News Wednesday that the mother was frantic and upset as she emerged from the inn and that other people tried to help.

"I saw her with a baby in her hand and the baby seemed like he was sick or something," said Neil Smith, who has been staying at the Red Carpet Inn.

The officers tried to save the boy, but medics ultimately pronounced him dead around 12:30 a.m.
