BALTIMORE - Baltimore got off to a violent start to the week as a 42-year-old was shot and killed early Monday morning.
City police said Shante Aurthur was killed following a shooting on the 6000 block of Belair Road. Officers said they found Authur suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries. Homicide detectives were called to the scene and are continuing to investigate this incident.
Authur’s death came as police said Tashawn Roberts, 30, died Monday after being shot early Sunday morning. Police said he was shot on the 1600 block of E. Madison St.
Police said they were also investigating two non-fatal shootings that occurred early Monday.
The first occurred at 12:25 a.m., when officers were called to the 2900 block of Brighton Street for a report of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of the victim's injuries, homicide detectives were called to the scene along with district detective units. At last check, the victim was currently being treated for his injuries at the hospital.
Then just before 2 a.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of N. Fulton Avenue for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hip. The victim told investigators he was shot by an unknown man who ran from the scene after shooting him.
There have now been 10 homicides recorded this month in Baltimore, including the stabbing of a woman in South Baltimore over the weekend. For the year, there have been 128 homicides recorded this year.
