Teens' murder caught on camera

BALTIMORE (WMAR) -

Baltimore City Police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old in connection to the death of a 18-year-old girl.

According to charging documents, Tyrone Alston, the boyfriend of the victim Tashawna Jones, was arrested and charged with first degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault and various handgun related charges.

On October 12, officers responded to the 300 block of East 26th Street for reports of a sick person, but found Jones in a pool of blood with an apparent gunshot wound to the back of the head, still in her school uniform. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Chief Medical Examiner ruled Jones' manner of death as a homicide.

Police interviewed several witnesses and learned that Jones had been involved with Alston for about 2 years. However, several days before her death Jones told witnesses that she was being abused by Alston, but was ashamed and scared to tell anyone because he had threatened her family.

According to court documents, just before 5:00 p.m., both Jones and Alston were caught on surveillance camera stopping at a McDonalds and then stopping to talk to friends before walking to 26th Street.

Also caught on camera, Alston was seen pulling out a handgun and shooting Jones in the head.
