Baltimore police charged 42-year-old Santee Taylor into custody after he fired shots at store employees outside Mondawmin Mall, police said.

Taylor was detained by employees around 5 p.m. Saturday inside the Rainbow clothing store.

He ran out of the store and several employees chased him.

Once outside, the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at least one shot toward the store employees before running away, police said.

A uniformed Baltimore police officer who was working overtime at another store in the mall and witnessed the shooting chased the suspect to the 2300 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway, where the officer took the suspect into custody behind Frederick Douglass High School.

Police said the officer recovered a handgun from the suspect. He is charged with attempted murder along with various assault and weapons charges.

There were no injuries to the store employees, and the mall remained open during the incident.
