BALTIMORE - Baltimore was recently ranked as one of the top 50 most violent cities in the world.
The dubious distinction was unveiled in a report from businessinsider.com . According to the report, Baltimore comes in at 41st on the list with more than 35 homicides per 100,000 people. Baltimore's inclusion in the list comes as the city has recorded more than 200 murders the last two years and at a time when the city is trying to employ unique crime-fighting strategies and turning to programs like Safe Streets to reach out to residents.
New Orleans, Detroit, Saint Louis and Oakland are all ranked in the top 50 as well.
The No. 1 spot on the list goes to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Cities in war-torn areas didn't make the list, which is why places like Baghdad are not included.
