A north Baltimore fire set during a drug dispute has been upgraded to a homicide, police said.
Police arrested Daquein McNeil, 23, on July 19 on arson charges.
Police believe McNeil set a fire in a vacant building in the 300 block of W. 27th Street on June 4 during a drug dispute with someone who owed him money.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze and during a check of neighboring buildings found 59-year-old Daniel Brewer unconscious.
Brewer was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said Brewer was not the intended target.
The case was ruled a homicide on July 24. Murder charges are pending.
