BALTIMORE (WMAR) - The Baltimore Police Department announced an arrest Thursday in a shooting at a Mount Vernon area bed and breakfast that left one man dead and another injured.
Officials say officers on foot patrol stopped a group of people in East Mount Vernon Park for an alcohol violation. Over the course of that incident, they say, a gun was found that investigators were able to connect to the shooting at the Empire House bed and breakfast that killed 40-year-old Alex Ulrich and severely wounded 56-year-old Larry Peterson.
Peterson is the owner of the 138-year-old historic home.
Their faces are well-known in the Mount Vernon area. Those in the community describe the two shooting victims as pillars in the community.
Quinton Bass, 25, has been taken into custody. Police have described him as the "primary aggressor." They say his primary motive was robbery, and they do not believe he acted alone.
Investigators say Bass moved to the Baltimore area from Raleigh, N.C. They say his past in Raleigh is "violent."
During a special press conference Thursday, police encouraged those with info in the case to come forward and speak to investigators.
"No little piece of information should be discounted," investigators said.
The case was assigned to a special task force on August 17.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Baltimore City Police at 410-396-2100.
