Police investigating two unrelated shootings in Baltimore

BALTIMORE - Baltimore police are investigating two shootings that occurred within a few hours of each other this week.

The shootings are unrelated. Meanwhile, a man who was shot last week in the 900 block of North Caroline Street has died. John Jackson, 40, was pronounced dead Wednesday. His death has been ruled a homicide, police said.

At 10:45 p.m. Thursday, police officers responded to the unit block of Monastery Avenue for a discharged firearm.

Shortly afterwards, officers were called to a local hospital where an adult male had walked in with gunshot wounds. He is in stable condition, and Southwest District detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call 410-396-2488.

At 1:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the 5200 block of Saybrook Avenue for a shooting, where a man had a gunshot wound in his back. 

Officers said the man was walking in the 5400 block of Moores Run Drive when he was shot by unknown suspects.  He was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released. Northeast District detectives are investigating, and anyone with information is asked to call 410-396-2444.
