Baltimore City Police have identified and arrested a man wanted in relation to a murder that occurred on September 4th in east Baltimore.

Earlier this week, police shared a photo of a person of interest asking for the public’s help in identifying him. Shortly after, they received information that led to the arrest warrant of 52-year-old Eric Jones of the unit block of N. Gilmore St. On Saturday, members of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force, K-9 Officers and SWAT arrested Jones in the 900 block of N. Eutaw St, without incident.

He has been charged with 1st Degree Murder of George Yurek.

Police also say Jones had two open warrants for 1st Degree Assault and Failing to Register as a Sex Offender.

Police say 52-year-old George Yurek was found suffering in the 1000 block of Brentwood Ave just before 10:30 the morning of September 3rd. He told police that he had been attacked by an unknown black man the evening before.

He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he died shortly after. An autopsy concluded that Mr. Yurek died from blunt force trauma and his death was ruled a homicide.
