13-year-old shot in officer involved shooting

A 13-year-old boy has been injured in a police-involved shooting in southeast Baltimore. The shooting occurred in the unit block of Asquith Street. 

Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said that the boy was a holding a replica handgun. He said it appeared to be a replica of a semi-automatic pistol. 

 

He said that the police officers saw the boy and identified them as officers. The boy then ran away when approached by officers.

The boy has been transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive. 

According to Davis, the boy's mom is aware that the boy left the house with the replica firearm. She is being questioned by police. 

Davis said that the department is investigating this incident.
