Morgan State graduate killed in Tuesday night shooting in northeast Baltimore

A recent Morgan State University graduate was killed in northeast Baltimore Tuesday evening. 

Around 6:30 p.m. police responded to the 1300 block of Glenwood Avenue for a reported shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Emergency crews took the victim, later identified as Chris Collins, to a nearby hospital where he died. 

Baltimore City Police spokesperson, Lt. Jarron Jackson, that they are actively investigating the death of 25-year-old Collins, who was a recent Morgan graduate. 

Morgan State issued the following statement Thursday in wake of the death: 

"The Morgan State University family was saddened to learn of the unfortunate death of recent graduate Christopher Collins. The Morgan community knew him as a bright young man whose future was full of promise. We extend our condolences to Christopher's family and friends along with our hope that those responsible for his death are brought swiftly to justice."

Among friends and family, Collins was well-admired and those touch by his life took to social media to express their thoughts on his recent passing:

Collins received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in May.
