Md Court of Appeals confirms accused killer of Phylicia Barnes could be retried

The Maryland Court of Appeals ruled Michael Johnson can be tried a third time in the death of Phylicia Barnes.

In a decision released Wednesday, Judge Battaglia cited several sources in a 35-page opinion on how Johnson could be retried.

Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby released a statement in support of the high court's ruling:

"We are pleased that the highest court of Maryland confirmed our legal right to retry Michael Johnson for the murder of Phylicia Barnes. This unanimous decision further validates our unwavering pursuit of justice on behalf of Phylicia Barnes and her ones."

Barnes was last seen in Baltimore after visiting her half-sister in December 2010.
