Police have identified the man shot and killed in northeast Baltimore Saturday evening as 23-year-old Tyriece Travon Watson who is also known as local rapper "Lor Scoota." He was of the 1900 block of Clifton Ave.
Watson was initially in critical condition after being shot at Harford Road and Moravia Road, according to Baltimore Police.
At approximately 6:56 p.m., officers responded to Harford Road at Moravia Road where they discovered the man suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to an area hospital but died afterwards. Homicide detectives are investigating this shooting.
Several witnesses have confirmed that Watson was driving eastbound on Moravia Road at Harford Road when an unknown suspect stepped into the street and opened fire at the victim.
Police say this appears to be a targeted incident.
The suspect is described as an unknown black male who was wearing a white bandana.
Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward. Spokesman T.J. Smith tweeted, "We have to be tired of this. Can #Scoota be a wake up call for us? He entertained many, now gone, just like that. We are better than this."
Councilman Nick Mosby released the following statement:
"I am saddened to hear about the senseless murder of Tyrice "Lor Scoota" Watson. He had a heart for youth and took the time out of his schedule to join me on my #EyeAmBaltimore Tour to high schools in West Baltimore following last year's uprising where he spoke about the importance of staying in school.
Tonight, he had just completed hosting the 'Touch the People Pray for Peace in These Streets' Charity Basketball Game at Morgan State University when his life tragically ended.
To the Watson family, and youth throughout the City of Baltimore, please accept my condolences for this loss."
